Dale Kelly
DALE KELLY, COACH CONCORD HIGH SCHOOL, 1961-1985
Dale compiled one of the area’s most outstanding coaching records, leading Concord High track teams for 20 years, gymnastics for 18 years, and cross-country for 17 years. He posted 168 victories in cross-country (1967-1984) and 147 in gymnastics (1961-1980). His gymnastics teams also won seven sectional titles and three state championships. The gymnasts also were state runners-up three times and finished third three times. In track (1965-85), Dale’s squads recorded one sectional crown and three NLC championships, winning the title outright in 1980 and sharing it in 1979 and 1981. Concord’s annual Boys Track Invitational, the Kelly Relays, is named in his honor. Dale retired from coaching in 1985 and from teaching in 1993.
