James “Jim” Perkins

James (Jim) Perkins, Concord High School, 1949

Jim was named to the Elkhart Truth’s all-sectional basketball tournament teams in 1948 and 1949, and was the leading scorer on the 1949 Concord basketball team that won the school’s first Elkhart Sectional championship. He was the first player to enter the Concord Sports Hall of Fame in 1988 and was on Coach Lester McCuen’s Concord All-Time Starting Five, at center position. Jim lettered three years in basketball and scored a total of 407 points. He attended Drake University on a basketball scholarship. Also lettered three years in track and field as well as baseball. In 1989, he received an Outstanding Alumni Award from Drake University Law School.
