Louis M. Bonacorsi
Louis M. Bonacorsi, NorthWood High School (Coach)
Coach Bonacorsi started teaching at NorthWood HS in 1969, served as head wrestling coach from 1972-1984, and his record was 78 (W), 53 (L), 3 (T). In 1974, he coached the school’s first athlete to compete in the IHSAA State Finals (any sport) and in 1975 the wrestling team won the school’s first Sectional Championship in any sport. During his coaching tenure, there were 5 team Sectional and one team Regional Championships as well as 12 individual regional winners, 19 Semi-State place winners and 9 State place winners. Coach Bonacorsi also organized Wa-Nee Middle School and elementary wrestling programs, NorthWood Wrestling Club and a spring wrestling tournament that drew 450 to 750 competitors from Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois. Lou was inducted into the Indiana State Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame in 1998. Lou served as principal of NWHS for 10 years.
